Today, this number is over 27,000 pounds! This increase in milk production is mainly due to three factors: improved genetics, improved nutrition, and improved comfort and well-being. At DairyKind, we know that high quality milk comes from high quality dairies. And quality dairies start with trained professionals!

Nutrition is very important for dairy cows. Their diets are specially formulated by dairy nutritionists to make sure their dietary needs are met. They will spend 3-5 hours a day eating, spread out over a lot of meals!

One key component of #DairyKind training is to ensure facilities are in working order and all cows have access to feed. All cows should have their physical and mental needs met!

Hard cheeses tend to have about 1.5oz per serving. This includes cheese like cheddar and Parmesan. This drops to 1oz for processed cheeses like American. For fresh ricotta cheese, one serving is about a half a cup, but for cottage cheese it’s 2 cups! Here’s your reminder to check the serving size. Cheese is a recommended way to get your daily dairy as a part of a healthy diet!
